EtherRocks vs PulseRocks

EtherRock was one of the first crypto collectible NFT-type projects on the Ethereum blockchain, having launched shortly after CryptoPunks. Only 100 rocks can ever be available, and each new virgin rock gets more and more expensive.

This game is built entirely on the Ethereum blockchain, with a decentralized smart contract (deployed here) used to manage everything including the buying and selling of rocks, their prices and owners (though this website is still necessary so you can see pretty pictures of the rocks).

These virtual rocks serve NO PURPOSE beyond being able to be brought and sold, and giving you a strong sense of pride in being an owner of 1 of the only 100 rocks in the game :)

PulseRocks

Similarily, PulseRocks are launched very early in PluseChain's life, not long after PulsePunks. PulseRocks also only have a 100 rock max supply and an immutable, decentralized contract (deployed here)

Our main differences are that we forego the concept of virgin rocks and replace it with "Rocks with Heart". Each newly minted rock will start with 3 hearts, more on that below. PulseRocks have more style than your average EtherRock. PulseRocks have unique rarity attributes related to their spectrum and shade.

Aside from these differences, the only purpose of PulseRocks is to be traded and giving you a strong sense of pride in being an owner of 1 of the only 100 rocks in the newly improved game exclusive to PulseChain! :-)

Rocks with Heart

As a full replacement to the "Virgin Rocks" system, and true to our newfound roots on PulseChain, all rocks have been granted Hearts.

The heart system is fairly simple:

  • Your rock is initially minted with 3 hearts.
  • Rocks will lose 1 heart Upon each transfer to another address, down to a minimum of 0.
  • When a rock has zero hearts, it no longer has a Pulse :-(

At this time there exists no method to regenerate hearts, there is a possibility to change this behaviour int the future but it is currently not planned.

Rocks are divided into the light spectrum, inspired by chakras. Rarity is as follows:

Roadmap & The Future

Short Term Roadmap

Now that rock minting is live, the next two major elements to be built are:

  • An auction interface for auctioning off the 45 additional hearts
  • Marketplace Setup:
    If there is an appropriate marketplace available, we will list there, otherwise we will be building our own internal marketplace similar to what PulsePunks have established

Future Possibilities

Additional, unused functions, have been added to the PulseRocks contract to enable possible future uses:

  • Heart Based Rewards: We have the ability to track how many hearts each NFT has and may consider providing discounts or possibly air-drops of future projects that we deploy, based on how many hearts a Rock has remaining
  • Heart Regeneration: As mentioned in the Hearts section above, the ability to regenerate hearts can be implemented
  • On-Chain Data: We have build in special " data" functions that could allow us to print the full rock images & attributes 100% on-chain; this is based off CryptoPunks on-chain data implementation found here
  • On-Chain Voting: We have also added functions to allow possible "on-chain voting" to take place. For what purpose has yet to be imagined

There is no guarantee we will use any of these functions, but they are there if we choose to add some of these very cool abilities to our 'OG' Rocks on PulseChain down the road.
